Cigarette Ads, Whiskey Promotions, Yogi Berra, and Mickey Mantle Line the Pages of this 1952 Yankees Program

A Redditor – by the name of HandsomeRob21 – was recently handed down an old Yankees game program (against the St. Louis Browns!) from the 1952 MLB season. Apparently, his mother-in-law had found the program a few months back and knew he would be interested in paging through it. Of course, Rob was very much interested and decided to share the program online.

I recently reached out to HandsomeRob21 to ask if I could share those photos with you here – he was happy to give his permission, and here we are. I have to say, it’s pretty dang cool (and costs only ten cents!).

Let’s take a look.

The cover of the program itself:

Check out the immediacy and insistency of the cigarette and whiskey ads on the very first page:

Anyone need some dessert? How about the new shave lotion, Seaforth? After all, some say it’s S-E-X! Woo!

Some Yankees stats and additional whiskey ads, naturally:

Now onto the good stuff, the lineups:

It might not be Murder’s Row, but look at that lineup featuring Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Phil Rizzuto:

And the St. Louis Browns:

And the rest:
