Holy Flying Infielder! Little League SS Lays Out for an Unbelievable Catch

Wild and Crazy

Although amateur players make amazing catches all the time, I’d say that most catches typically fall into one of two buckets:

  1. The “amateurs” are legitimate, older players gearing up for a career in the Major Leagues (college players, high school seniors, etc).
  2. The catch wasn’t all that fantastic.

Well, the following play breaks that mold.

This young shortstop lays out for a pop-up – destined to land somewhere in the foul territory between the infield and outfield – and makes one of the more amazing catches I’ve ever seen for someone of (roughly) his age.

I mean, there’s a really long run, some perfect timing, full extension, and much more going into that catch and he absolutely nails it. So very impressive.

I think he probably also learned that jumping high means landing hard, but I’ll bet his adrenaline helped shake that off.

What a freakin’ catch!
