This 7-2-6 College Triple Play Has Happened Just ONCE in MLB History

Incredible Plays

If you’re anything like me, you’ll never need a reason to watch a triple play. HOWEVA, not all triple plays are equal.

Sure your standard scorching-grounder to the third baseman who’s hovering right over the bag and goes around the horn isn’t going out of style anytime soon, but the rarer the triple play, the better, right? I certainly think so.

So then, I present to you Kentucky’s 7-2-6 triple play from last Tuesday that includes two runners being thrown out on the bases including one at the plate from left field:

According to USA Today, there’s only been one 7-2-6 triple play in MLB history, and it happened all the back way in 1923 between the Pirates and Phillies.

Now THAT’S rare and awesome triple play.
